Ohio Star Ball

Hey Y’all!

For all of my lovers of “Dancing with the Stars” and ballroom dancing in general, we traveled down to Columbus for the Ohio Star Ball. We had tickets along with others from our dance studio to watch the professional dancers compete. The second that you entered the convention center you saw racks upon racks of gorgeous handmade gowns. The dresses were RIDICULOUS. I was having mental overload over all the fringe, crystals, and feathers. The detail put into each dress was incredible and they were hand sewn one of a kind creations. Once Aaron could drag me away from the garments, we took our seats.

The dancers were divided into two different groups and ranged from about ten couples and went through multiple different heats. The dances that were judged were Paso Doble, Tango, Cha Cha, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba, Quickstep, and Jive. The couples were breathtaking. It looked as if we were in the 17th century at a ball. I enjoyed watching all the different dances, but the Paso and Jive were my favorites.

Dancing is a universal way to communicate across all cultures. I am so happy that we have found a studio that has helped us learn so many different dances. Whenever we are out somewhere and hear a good two-step, or rumba, and even swing, we love to get up and show off what we have practiced. If you are located in or near the Sandusky, Ohio area, I highly recommend Dance N Style. You can contact Michael Walker (419) 557-1141 or Laura Walker (419) 202-6055 for lessons. They offer private, group, and dance parties throughout the week. Dancing is great exercise and a fun way to meet new people. What started out as learning a dance for our wedding quickly turned in to a passion and weekly get together two years later.
