Broke Girls Easy Baked Ziti

As we are still waiting on the arrival of Baby Carmean, I thought I would share a quick, easy, go-to meal for us. I named it the Broke Girls Easy Baked Ziti – because well, it’s very inexpensive, simple to make, and not to mention, delicious! We have made this option time and time again and it is always a crowd and husband pleaser. Just a little warning – it is NOT healthy, BUT so delicious and relatively quick to make.

 

Ingredients:

Whole Grain Penne Noodles (this is the healthiest part)

Prego Traditional Pasta Sauce

1 block Philadelphia Cream Cheese

1 T Daisy Sour Cream

2 Cups Mozzarella Cheese

1 Cup Italian Blend Cheese (optional)

Fresh Basil (optional)

Oregano to taste (optional)

Parsley to taste (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. PrepareĀ Penne Noodles.
  3. Pour Prego Sauce into large skillet on medium heat. Add block of cream cheese and tablespoon of sour cream. Stir until melted.
  4. Drain pasta. Layer enough sauce to cover a 9×12 baking dish, add half of the noodles over sauce, then cheese mixture.
  5. Repeat layers 1-2 times depending on thickness you wish to desire.
  6. Pour remaining sauce on top, add cheese, and basil.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Recommend that you let dish cool at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
