As we are still waiting on the arrival of Baby Carmean, I thought I would share a quick, easy, go-to meal for us. I named it the Broke Girls Easy Baked Ziti – because well, it’s very inexpensive, simple to make, and not to mention, delicious! We have made this option time and time again and it is always a crowd and husband pleaser. Just a little warning – it is NOT healthy, BUT so delicious and relatively quick to make.
Ingredients:
Whole Grain Penne Noodles (this is the healthiest part)
Prego Traditional Pasta Sauce
1 block Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1 T Daisy Sour Cream
2 Cups Mozzarella Cheese
1 Cup Italian Blend Cheese (optional)
Fresh Basil (optional)
Oregano to taste (optional)
Parsley to taste (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- PrepareĀ Penne Noodles.
- Pour Prego Sauce into large skillet on medium heat. Add block of cream cheese and tablespoon of sour cream. Stir until melted.
- Drain pasta. Layer enough sauce to cover a 9×12 baking dish, add half of the noodles over sauce, then cheese mixture.
- Repeat layers 1-2 times depending on thickness you wish to desire.
- Pour remaining sauce on top, add cheese, and basil.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Recommend that you let dish cool at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
