Philanthropy in Athens, Georgia

Hey Y’all!

I recently took a trip down to my hometown Athens, Georgia to visit my family and friends. My best friend is getting married in December and her bachelorette party was held over the weekend in Savannah. While I was home, I was able to do some shopping and I absolutely adore the boutiques downtown. I like being able to express my style with items that are not always in the mall or your big chain stores. I like dressing unique and classy and Athens offers many great places to find those elements for your wardrobe. I frequent Entourage, The Red Dress Boutique, The Cheeky Peach, and Pitaya. (For my Ohio girls – there is a Pitaya in Columbus FYI).

My mom took me to a new place that had just recently opened, called Philanthropy. As soon as I walked in the doors, I was in love. Their store is absolutely beautiful inside, with a prayer wall (where you can write down prayers and hang), scriptures, and Christian music playing on the radio.

Philanthropy is a Christian based company that opened their first store in 2007 out of Franklin, Tennessee (another place near and dear to my heart).

Philanthropy’s core value is:

We know who we are is not just about giving, it’s about doing. Each morning we ask what we will do to affect one another for our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Our walk is to put forth the idea that one person can truly make a difference. When Philanthropy set out to develop a web store, we had to find a way to let HIS light shine without the physical presence of a standing store.

If shopping in store, 10% of all purchases go to 42 different charities that Philanthropy supports. If you shop online, ALL 100% of proceeds go to charity. There are beautiful pieces of clothing, décor, jewelry, and handmade items from children allover the world. If anything is purchased from the children’s lines 100% of the profit goes to them as well. Philanthropy has opened a platform for others to give back and I am amazed at the outpouring of compassion and love that it has portrayed and helped others to become involved.

I was so excited to tell Aaron about this place and my dream has been to open a store like this eventually when we move. Ever since from returning on our mission trip, I have struggled for ways to continue helping those children less fortunate and I was joyful to see the way this company is making a change in so many lives. I was also reminded that we must serve the least of these and that you can make a difference each day.
