Hey Y’all!
A couple of weeks ago, Aaron and I got an opportunity to travel down to Nashville and visit family and enjoy a weekend away. I absolutely LOVE Tennessee. It’s about a 7-hour drive down from our home in Ohio. On the way, we stopped by Knob Creek Gun Range. It is the hit show being featured on CMT now called ‘Guntucky’. It was literally about 10miles off the interstate and out in the country (or for my Kentucky peeps – in the holler!). They had an outdoor gun range that you could rent and shoot any kind of gun that you wanted. I am a HUGE advocate for women learning how to shoot and being able to protect themselves – plus, shooting guns is fun. It is a great stress reliever and something fun to do with your partner or family. Being from the south I have grown up around guns. From squirrel, coon, and deer hunting to trap shooting, our family get togethers usually consist of using shotguns.
We stopped the first night to stay at my Aunt Linda’s. I LOVE this lady. She is such a southern lady and can cook and garden. One day I hope I am just like her! Their backyard looks like a park. She sparked my interest in growing my own garden this year (more updates on that to come later on).
Nashville was crazy this weekend. The St. Jude’s Marathon and the Nashville Antique and Flea Market was in town. I love scouring through antique places and flea markets to find the perfect jewel to bring back to life. I have a lot of projects going on in Basement Brooke (haha) and will have many pictures to come. I found a beautiful old coke bottle tray (Coke was founded in Atlanta-about an hour from my hometown) and the colors and quality were just vibrant. It has found a new home in our kitchen. We also picked up a few dip mixes and homemade soaps and LOTS of new ideas for craft projects. I am so thankful my mother in law gave me a roll of burlap for Christmas and I can’t wait to use it.
Nashville is home to country music. I am such a country girl and there’s no place in the world that you feel at home like Nashville. We listened to live music, attended the OPRY Friday night, and ate REAL good. Aaron has fallen in love with BBQ and Jack’s is our go to place when we are in town. The Opry is probably the best sounding venue I have ever been to. It was so cool to sit on church pews and listen to a live radio show. From JT Hodges to Bobbie Gentry (she sings “The day Billie Joe McAllister jumped off the Tallahatchee Bridge”) the Opry is something you definitely need to do at least once in your life. It was a great trip and we got some much-needed southern hospitality and SUNSHINE!
