Hey y’all!
It’s no secret that our back porch is one of my favorite areas to spend time in. This is our second Christmas season in this home and I love using vibrant pops of red against the painted white brick. Last year, I nicknamed it “Candy Cane Lane” and I have stuck with that theme this year, too!
Throughout the year, I look for things that are red and can be a multipurpose item. For instance, red beaded garland, antique wood crates with red signage, a vintage toolbox (that I painted red), and a thrifted sled make up this years back porch Christmas decor items. Be thinking about using items in boxes and buckets when you find them. You can always place greenery, architectural pieces, ornaments, or beaded garland for extra effect.
I used two pieces of garland on the mantle (one is flocked and one is not) to give a fuller effect. Next, I took a variety of red ornaments and garland and draped them across the fireplace. I use flocked trees out here to give a more realistic winter Christmas scene. One of my favorite vessels to place Christmas trees in is a couple of vintage pine sap buckets with a hand painted red trim. This look would also be easy to recreate. To add dimension I used a couple of rugs that are layered to add softness, as well as a cozy blanket to wrap up with on our sofa. A blanket on the couch is a MUST in the winter months and this is a great prop your feet up and read a book spot.
I always look forward to this view during the holidays and love seeing the cheerful colors and glow of the season. I cannot believe that Christmas is 10 days away! The countdown is officially on.
