Gulf Shores AL Vacay

Hey y’all!

We traveled to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach AL The past week and had the best time. The boys are genuine beach babes and love all things sun, sand, and surf.

I put a list together of things we got to do and enjoyed.

Dolphin Tales Boat Excursion at Zekes Marina – my kids LOVED this. It lasted about two hours. We saw dolphins and a sea turtle! Our captain and first mate were wonderful and so knowledgeable. Ace and Cash both got to drive the boat. You can bring a cooler of snacks and drinks as well! https://10dolphincruise.com/

Sandcastles – my boys love building drip sandcastles, ramps, forts, and animals.

Ghost Crab Hunting – we love to do this! Grab your headlamps (with a red light) and go at dusk. We found four over a two night period. My boys use a net to grab them. Take a quick photo and let them go back on the sand.

Metal Detecting – Aaron has been metal detecting for three years now and likes to do this early morning or in the evenings after dinner. He found 30 cents and soda can tabs this trip. L O L

The Wharf – shopping, restaurants, live music. Amphitheater that has big name concerts. https://alwharf.com/

Ferris Wheel – our boys begged to do this. We purchased tickets and waited 15min in line. The sky grew DARK right before we got in. Right as we got to the top the biggest thunderstorm unleashed. Let’s just say memories were made.

Restaurants:

Sea N Suds – Oysters were great. Dining right on the beach. This was next door to the condos we stayed at! https://sea-n-suds.com/

Zekes Landing – at Zekes Marina. EXCELLENT food. More upscale. We had lunch there and it was delicious. We had Grouper bites, wedge salad with Tuna. Live music on the weekends on patio. We dined here after our Dolphin Tales excursion. https://www.zekeslanding.com/restaurant/

OSO at Bear Point – excellent food, great atmosphere at marina. Live bands on weekends. Green area for kids to play. https://www.osobearpoint.com/

The Hangout – has foam spray at the top of every hour and a sand play place. Just know your kids will leave filthy. Live music after 5pm. They get guests to dance on the tables – so if this is NOT your thing, you may want to opt out of it. The food is ok. The gelato was good! This was our boys favorite place. https://www.thehangout.com/

Coming from a Georgia girl who grew up going to 30A – PCB, Destin, to Seaside and Watercolor….it is more of my personal favorite! I wanted to be transparent and just let you know when planning! When we went the weather was great for the first three full days, then a storm blew in that resulted in red flags and bad rip currents. Our kids love the pool, so we would beach it for a couple hours to play in the sand then head to the pool. We cut our trip a day short due to the weather.
